The nation of Israel had completely deviated from God's covenant with them.  They refused to obey and even worked against these laws.  Today, Jehovah's witnesses have followed in the footsteps of the ancient nation of Israel and treat the Christian covenant with the same disrespect as their counterparts did to the Mosaic covenant.  Neither nation showed any repentance for their actions.
