               Their leadership, just as in ancient Israel, is responsible for Israel’s lack of faith.  They are the ones Paul wrote about, the “man of lawlessness,” who sits in God’s Temple and shows himself to be a god.  He lords it over Jehovah’s sheep, mistreating them, leaving them “skinned and thrown about” just as Jesus observed about Israel in his day.  (2 Thessalonians 2:3-12; Matthew 9:36)
