               The nation of Israel lost their privileged position of being in God’s favor because, in spite of miracles performed among them, they still were without true faith in God.  Modern-day Israel exists because of Israel’s lack of faith.  We most certainly would not want to imitate them.  Additionally, as Paul at 1 Corinthians 14:21 made clear – signs are for the “unbelievers,” ones who do not know God and prophesying, or the explanation of Bible prophecy, is for the “believer,” the ones who have already dedicated their lives to Jehovah.  Prophecy is for their upbuilding.
