               This nation was not anointed at its inception, as it had not proved worthy to be given this honor.  The prophet Joel (2:28, 29) showed that this anointing would be a future event.  Other prophetic writing reveal that “Israel” would fall into apostasy and would be severely disciplined by Jehovah.  Afterwards they could receive this anointing from Jehovah when He restores them to His favor.
