             In the first century, the nation of Israel was in “captivity” also but not to a foreign power.  It was a “spiritual” captivity to their religious leaders.  Jehovah used Jesus to “break” the hold of the Pharisees with their enslaving man-made “doctrines” and “traditions” that were not in harmony with God’s Law.  He then led those who were humble from among God’s Name People to “Living Waters” of Divine Truth.  Thus, in a spiritual sense, Jesus was the true Breaker” and “King” for the nation of Israel.  (John 8:32, 36)
