               This explanation is specious because the League of Nations, the “beast” that went into the abyss, did not come out of the abyss.  It was not revitalized.  The United Nations was a completely new entity in all respects.  The United States was not itself a part of the League of Nations, but was one of the primary sponsors and member of the United Nations.  The basic set up of these two organizations is totally different.  A five member-nation panel controls the United Nations where all five nations have equal veto powers, whereas the League was not controlled by these means.
