Answer #12

In order for a person to correctly interpret God’s word, he needs to have a "gift of the spirit,’ specifically the ‘ability to discern divine utterances,’ which Paul shows at 1 Corinthians 12:10 to be a ‘gift of the spirit. Therefore, this person would need to be inspired. Jehovah is the only One who can correctly interpret His own word. So to get a correct understanding of His inspired word, God Himself must intervene, by means of His holy spirit. As in the first century, Jehovah gave to some members of the congregation the gift of discerning inspired utterances, or the ability to understand and explain sacred scripture. This way Jehovah interprets His own word. (Genesis 40:8)
