           The 9/15/81 Watchtower article explains that Jehovah did not try to cover every possible situation but we need to get the sense of what He says about treatment of these individuals so that we can uphold His view. They then quote 2 John 9-11 and explain that since John know Jesus personally; he understood what Jesus said about greeting others. Since the common greeting meant ‘peace,’ they would not want to wish "peace" on a disfellowshipped or disassociated person. The article them makes a sweeping statement that saying hello to a person is the first step in starting a conversation or a friendship with another person.
