           No, it is not appropriate to attribute these words to Jesus. We would have to ask when would Jesus ever find the occasion to utter such word of discouragement to Jehovah. This would mean that he would be admitting Total Defeat and Satan would have won. The record shows that Jesus was continually praying for his disciples so that they would remain strong and stay awake. His concern was always for them even up to his death. Also the Bible reveals that these words were spoken at the very beginning of the Servant’s ministry, not at the end. There would have been no occasion at the beginning of Jesus’ ministry for him to be discouraged, but there would be this opportunity for a human to make this statement after he had been beaten down by the brazen, outright wickedness of modern-day Israel.
