         Verse 19 of Galatians chapter 3 says that the law was added (to the Abrahamic covenant) to make transgressions known until the seed should arrive, and verse 24 shows that it was a tutor, or pedagogue leading them to Christ. Had they kept the Law they would have been prepared to accept both this "seed" when he arrived and the new and better covenant that he would mediate.
