Answer #1

Cognitive dissonance is described as the anxiety that results from holding, at the same time, two differing viewpoints or ideas about something that are at odds with each other, causing great confusion and inner conflict within the person. The person is unable to determine which is the correct viewpoint because he does not have a clear understanding of the matter.  Jehovah’s witnesses today are experiencing cognitive dissonance as they learn more and more about the wicked activities of the Governing Body. Their problem is that they still believe that Jesus appointed these wicked leaders yet they are continually learning that these men teach and do things that are unscriptural. Jehovah’s Witnesses are in a state of anxiety because they cannot make a decision on what course of action they should now take.
