               Russell did not believe that he had escaped Babylon the Great as of the year 1878.  In an article in the May, 1814 Watchtower magazine, Russell wrote: “Since 1878 (and never before that) we have felt at liberty to call God’s children out of the nominal churches to a position of freedom and liberty.”
