              In 2 Kings 2:9, 10, 12 and 15, when Elijah was about to turn the assignment of being prophet to Israel over to Elisha, Elisha requested that he be given “2 parts” of his spirit.  This request would make Elisha, spiritually speaking, the “firstborn” son of Elijah.  At John 14:12, Jesus spoke of his disciples as doing even “greater works” than he did.  So in a collective sense they would be firstborn progeny to him.
