Answer #20
This lamb is not Jesus. The Greek word use by John in Revelation is arnion, which means a "baby lamb" or "lampkin" and is different from the word used by John in the book that bears his name. The Greek word used here is ammos, which describes a full-grown adult "lamb." This full-grown lamb aptly represents Jesus as shown at John 1:29 and 36. To show that John understood the differences between these two Greek words, he used the Greek word, arnion, when referring to those who would be new followers of Jesus through the efforts of Peter and others.
