        Jehovah, being the innocent party, has the option to give His unfaithful wife a "certificate of divorce." He has exercised this option in the past. According to Jeremiah 3:8 and Isaiah 50:1, He issued a certificate of divorce to ancient Israel because of unfaithfulness. He will therefore divorce modern-day Israel for their spiritual adultery.
