WTS & Phillip Morris

Wow, I
had no clue on that one.

And I was told that working in a convenience store was frowned upon because of having to sell cigarette products and lottery items.
Right away, I thought to myself..."oh, they will use the old excuse of 'we did not know what we were doing', lol".

But then there was this information that 'Expatbrit' added a ways into this thread that surely would cancel out that excuse:
The Trust has existed since at least 1998, as I have the return for that year. I also have the 2001 return, so I've just taken a look at it. There are no holdings of Philip Morris on the 2001 return. This means that those shares were purchased sometime between May 1, 2001 and April 30, 2002. Consequently I don't think the Society can say "we didn't know what we were getting" as an excuse, because they didn't get any Philip Morris shares to start with.
Even the
WTS own publications condemn them on this:
*** g70 2/8 p. 23 Churches in Business ***
The vast business holdings of the Vatican and of other religious organizations bind them inseparably with the business world. How unlike the true Christians concerning whom Jesus Christ said: “They are no part of the world”!—John 17:16.
The religious organization that truly is serving God, in harmony with the example set by Jesus Christ, concentrates on preaching and teaching the liberating truths of his Word and does not become involved in commercial businesses. Following the Bible’s instructions, it does not involve itself in “the commercial businesses of life.”—2 Tim. 2:4.
Her sins are just the scripture describes:
(Revelation 18:5) 5 For her sins have massed together clear up to heaven, and God has called her acts of injustice to mind.
