John 21:22, ...my will for him to remain until I come

Greetings Y.O.R.W.W. Congregation,
Attention Bejay:
During LivingWaters daily Bible reading schedule, I came across an interesting scripture in the book of John that talks about Jesus’ 2nd coming (second parousia). In John 21:22, Jesus makes an interesting reply to Apostle Peter. In this verse, Jesus talks about Apostle John’s remaining on earth until Jesus return—Jesus 2nd coming. If one were to take these words literally, then it would appear that Jesus 2nd coming actually took place nearly two thousand years ago during the time that Apostle John was on earth!!!
This verse in the book of John reads, “Jesus said to him, ‘“If it is my will for him to remain until I come, of what concern is that to you?”’ (John 21:22 NWT)
After doing some research, here is what I found in regards to that the Watchtower Society teaches:
“In this verse Jesus may have referred to his coming in miniature A.D. 70 for the execution of divine vengeance upon the city of Jerusalem, resulting in its destruction. John is understood to have survived that event of A.D. 70 and to have lived down to close to the end of the first century, at which time he wrote his account of Jesus' life and also the three epistles or letters and the book of Revelation.” (Watchtower 1961, 1/1 ,p. 32, Questions from readers)
"Thus, by the "revelation by Jesus Christ" that was given to John on the isle of Patmos, the words of the resurrected Jesus concerning John as uttered back in the spring of 33 C.E. virtually came true: "If it is my will for him to remain until I come, of what concern is that?" By those words, however, John did not mean that John would not die the same as the rest of the Christian believers." (Things in Which it is Impossible for God to Lie, copyrighted 1965, page 111 para. 134)
Jesus is here quoted as saying about him: "If it is my will for him to remain until I come, of what concern is that to you?" (John 21:22, 23) This suggests that the disciple referred to would long survive Peter and the other apostles. All of this fits the apostle John. (All Scriptures is Inspired of God and Beneficial, copyrighted 1975, 1990, page 193, para. 4)
Are we to take the words Jesus spoken in John 21:22 literally—word for word—meaning that Jesus 2nd coming actually occurred during Apostle John’s earthly life
Or, is Jesus 2nd coming something quite different than what Jesus’ words say at John 21:22—a very-long “drawn” out time period that has lasted for nearly two thousands years
Thanks much for your time and consideration.
Patrick
