Israelites revolt against the House of David, 1 Kings 12:19

Greetings, :D

Jehovah became angry with Solomon, after his heart turned away from Jehovah for Solomon did not stay with Jehovah's covenant. Thereafter, Jehovah decided to tear away the kingdom from Solomon but to give him one tribe to his son, Rehoboam, for the sake of Jehovah's servant David.

First Kings 12:19 states, "And the Israelites kept up their revolt against the house of David down to this day."

The genealogy of Jesus Christ is traced to the blood lines of the house of David. (Matthew 1) So my question is, does 1 Kings 12:19 have any bearing on what is happening to modern-day Israel today :?:

Thanks much for your consideration,

Patrick

Greetings Patrick:

The verse you have cited shows that "enmity" did exist between these two "houses" namely, the "House of Judah" and the "House of Israel" after their split during King Rehoboam's time. Therefore, the answer to your question would be yes, if we are speaking in terms of what proves to be the "uniting" force to bring all of Israel back together again, prophetically speaking. From that point of view, then we are beginning to perceive a modern day situation for our day and time, where the entire 12-tribes of Israel would one day be re-united.

For example, we could possibly consider the impending birth of the "Male Child" as representing the most loyal Jehovah's Witnesses, or modern-day "nation" or "tribe" of Judah, that comes from the nation of Israel or the "woman." We remember, it was the nation of Judah that was the first to accept David as "king." David ruled from Hebron for 7 1/2 years before ruling over the entire 12 tribes of Israel. -- 2 Samuel 2:1-4; 2 Samuel 5:1-5; Revelation 12:5, 6

After the break up of the 12 Tribe Kingdom back in Rehoboam's day, the nation of Israel was never united as one "kingdom" and one "nation." And yet, God's prophetic word does say that one day, the entire nation will be united again. Which means, this foretold uniting of the kingdom of Israel will be fulfilled as a future happening. A number of prophecies foretell this for our modern day setting.

For example in Isaiah 11:13, 14. "Judah" is shown to be gathered back with the other tribes of Israel, as a future happening. The prophecy foretells that all of the "jealousy" and "hostility" between the two Israelite camps, will be a thing of the past.

Also, the 37th chapter of Ezekiel shows "the stick of Judah" to be reunited again with their spiritual brothers, the "stick of Joseph" or Israel, by saying:

"And cause them to approach each other into one stick for yourself, and they will actually become just one in your hand...Here I am taking the stick of Joseph...and I will put them upon it, that is the stick of Judah, and I shall actually make them one stick, and they must become one in my hand." -- Ezekiel 37:17-19

In this prophecy, we notice the "stick of Joseph" is said to be "put upon it" or placed upon the "stick of Judah" so that they can become "one stick." Therefore, when this happens, then all of the nation of Israel would be reunited again, all "12 tribes", all repentant, obedient Jehovah's Witnesses, operating under their modern day "king" of God's Name People, the Modern Day "David," the "Chieftain" of God's Temple. And when this happens, then "David" will have been accepted as God's "Scapegoat" to remove "sin" from the nation, permanently. In this way, he also becomes the "chief cornerstone that the builders rejected," the same as Jesus was rejected in the first century before becoming the New Foundation Stone of the Christian Congregation or nation of spiritual "Israel." -- Leviticus 16:10, 20; Ezekiel 37:22, 24, 25; Ezekiel 44:3; Hosea 1:11; Hosea 3:5; Matthew 21:42; 1 Peter 2:7, 8
